The Plaza de la Constitución is a public street in the center of the city of Malaga, Spain. It is the old Plaza Mayor, located in the heart of the city, which since the 15th century has been the public and political space of the city par excellence.

It is located within the limits of the disappeared Arab wall on the site of the primitive aljama mosque, the place where the Catholic Kings Isabel and Fernando ordered a Christian temple to be built a few days after conquering the city in 1487.

PICASSO FOUNDATION MUSEUM HOUSE OF BIRTH

The Fundación Picasso Museo Casa Natal is a cultural institution based in the Spanish city of Malaga that aims to promote and disseminate the work of the painter Pablo Picasso. Created by the City Council of Malaga in 1988, is located in the building of the Birthplace of Picasso, in the so-called Casas de Campos in the Plaza de la Merced.

The Foundation has the following areas of activity: the Birth House Museum, which treasures childhood and family memories of the painter as well as works by Picasso and José Ruiz Blasco, his father, a painter and professor at the School of Fine Arts in Malaga.

CARMEN THYSSEN MUSEUM

It is one of the main museums in the Spanish city of Malaga. It was inaugurated in 2011 and brings together one of the most important collections of Spanish and Andalusian painting from the beginning of the 19th century to the beginning of modernity in the 20th, which covers some of the main genres of Spanish art in this period, such as landscape and costumbrismo. Its more than 250 works come from the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza collection and also include a selection of pieces by old masters.

LARIOS street

Marqués de Larios Street, considered one of the most elegant 19th century streets in Spain, is located in the city of Málaga. In 2018 it was positioned as the third most expensive street in Spain in terms of rental income, making it one of the most desirable shopping streets in Europe. On December 14th 2002, its pedestrianization was inaugurated, starting the deep rehabilitation and revitalization plan of the Historical Center of Malaga.

Also known as Calle Larios, from its name in honor of Manuel Domingo Larios y Larios, II Marquis of Larios, which presides over the beginning of the street with a sculpture group of Benlliure located at the intersection with the Alameda Principal.

PALACE OF THE CUSTOMS AND MUSEUM OF MALAGA

The Palacio de la Aduana de Málaga is a building designed in 1788, originally intended to serve the port’s traffic. Located next to Malaga’s park, it is currently the headquarters of the Malaga Museum. In 2006 the Government awarded the drafting of the project to move the Museum of Malaga to the Customs House and in 2007 all the administrative units left the building.

The Museum of Málaga is an exhibition centre in the Spanish city of Málaga that houses the collections of two Malawian museum institutions, the Fine Arts Museum of Málaga and the Provincial Archaeological Museum of Málaga.

CERVANTES THEATRE

The Teatro Cervantes in the Spanish city of Malaga is one of the oldest performing arts venues in the capital of the Costa del Sol, dating back to 1870 and with 1,200 seats. It is the main venue of the Malaga Festival.

The theater was built in 1869 after the destruction in a fire of the Teatro del Príncipe Alfonso, which was the name of the old Teatro de la Merced after the visit to the city in 1862 by Queen Elizabeth II. After that unfortunate event it was decided to build a new theater under the direction of the architect Geronimo Cuervo, which was inaugurated in 1870 with the name Teatro Cervantes.

VIEWPOINT OF GIBRALFARO (0.7 KM)

Gibralfaro, in the central part opposite the Malaga cove, is part of the southern estimates of the Montes de Malaga, a mountain range of the Penibetic mountain range formed by materials from the Maláguide complex. The mountain is covered by a thick forest of pines and eucalyptus.
